Student Upgrade Reimbursement Program
Policy & Procedure
To encourage students to upgrade to the professional section upon graduation, the SWE-OC section is offering a reimbursement program to all students who upgrade to our section (B003). If you attend one SWE-OC event, the section will reimburse you for the cost for your upgrade. You must meet the criteria established and follow the reimbursement procedures as outlined below.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You must have graduated within the last 12 months and be listed on the SWE report of recent graduates
- Your membership renewal must be complete by December 31 for the current fiscal year
· You must live and/or work in the Orange County area OR specifically request, on your membership renewal, to be placed in the Orange County Section (B003)
- Your name must be listed on the Orange County section roster by January of the current fiscal year
- You must choose the event (Social, Dinner Meeting or the Professional Development Conference) you wish to attend and inform the Membership Chair and Treasurer.
- Your chosen event must be held in the current fiscal year. Requests for reimbursement after June 30 will not be awarded
Procedure for Reimbursement:
In order to make sure we don’t miss anyone who meets the criteria, the following steps need to be followed to insure reimbursement is issued in a timely manner.
- You must notify the SWE-OC Membership Chair of your intent to upgrade
- Copy or notify the Membership Chair and Treasurer of your RSVP to the approved event and supply an address to which your check can be mailed (in case the Treasurer cannot make it to the event you will be attending)
- Send a copy of your membership upgrade payment receipt to the SWE-OC Treasurer and Membership Chair
- The Treasurer, if possible, will deliver your reimbursement check to you at your chosen event. Reimbursements that cannot be hand delivered will be mailed the day after the event.
