I have seen many changes within the Orange County Section since I joined in 2000. In preparation for my term as President, I have been reflecting on where the section has been and the future that lies ahead. Aspire, Advance, Achieve ~ this is the past present and future of SWE-OC. Seven years ago, the SWE-OC leadership aspired to increase membership and improve all aspects of section operations. Those aspirations led to great advancements for the section. Membership has steadily increased, volunteerism has increased, and the quality and quantity of events has increased. Our programs have consistently topped those from the year before by offering fresh topics and entertaining and engaging speakers. During FY07, it was clear to me that the section has achieved great things! I am pleased to announce that as of May 31st, we are 131 members strong and event attendance was at record levels in FY07.
I feel that the future success of SWE-OC lies in aspiring to achieve new goals. My primary goal for this year is to help members make the most of their membership. The key to a successful organization is to provide members with services and benefits that are important to them. The FY08 leadership team will be working hard to provide new programs, services, and opportunities that are aligned with the feedback we’ve received from the Member Survey. I hope that you will all make the most of your membership this year and remember to always Aspire, Advance, and Achieve!
